DON Redux

Ponder over DON's title-song intros from the two versions-

Amitabh Bachchan Version
Arre deewano muzhe pehchano, kahan se aaya main hoon kaun?
Arre deewano muzhe pehchano, kahan se aaya main hoon kaun?

Main hoon kaun? Main hoon kaun?

Main hoon main hoon main hoon DON !!

Shah Rukh Khan Version
Duniya mein logon ne dil apne phir thaame!
Aaya hoon lekar main phir kitne hungame!

Jara dekho kaun aa gaya hai! Zamane pe jo chha gaya hai!

Jami kispe hai sab nighahein? Khuli kiski khatir hain bahein?
Aisa dildaar aaya hai koun?
Muzhko pehchanlo main hoon DON !!

Javed Akhtar oozes class yet again by writing content-specific lyrics for the redux!

Hrishikesh Mukherjee won't be missed anymore...

... because Rajkumar Hirani has arrived! Lage Raho Munnabhai is straight out of the Hrishikesh Mukherjee school of film-making where the common man's common problems are tackled on screen and answers are sought. Where even big characters are mere messengers of big ideas. Munnabhai & Circuit may well be turn out to be the next superheroes along with Krrish. While Krrish will entertain kids, Munnabhai & Circuit will entertain one and all. Kudos to Vidhu Vinod Chopra for bringing Rajkumar Hirani to Bollywood. Now that Hirani has been fully blooded we can expect many masterpieces like the two Munnabhai movies in the days to come. (Hopefully many of those will involve these golden hearted goons again as well !!)

SS's DOR - Royal

Dor is an immensely satisfying album. Salim Suleiman have shown their talent in this rustic style soundtrack with their trademark suave mixing. Nagesh Kukunoor is making one intelligent movie after another and to add to that hes started repeating SS quite regularly now. That can only mean good news. His last Iqbal had just 1 track by SS but here its a full fledged score.

Creative and innovative people tend to come together to create magic. That's the only explanation I have for Shafqat Amanat Ali's rendition of "Yeh Honsla" - the title track of Dor. SS give a traditional Rajasthani background to this track but its Ali's voice that takes this song to somewhere else. Far higher. After "Mitwa" this is his consecutive sixer.
