Remixing Movies

A new phase in the Hindi movie scene is arising! The phase of Movie remixes or remakes, whatever you want to call it. Its the best thing that could happen to the industry at the moment. Business wise at least its a good proposition, since the crowds will throng the theatres at least once to see what has being served for their already tasted menu. Creatively it is good because stalwart directors will handle the reigns of remaking classics. Casting coups will happen. The excitement will double.

Farhan Akhtar has already roped in SRK (AB), Priyanka Chopra (ZA), Arjun Rampal (Pran) & Kareena Kapoor (Helen) with Isha Koppikar for his DON. While David Dhawan is contemplating his Amar Akbar Anthony, Ram Gopal Varma has taken on the onus of Sholay. The best casting coup yet is Amitabh Bachchan, the original Jai, playing the 'hero' of RGV's Sholay, the menacing Gabbar Singh. Varma says that only AB can deliver the punch oneliners that made Gabbar famous in this recreated version. I totally agree. Ram Gopal Varma has also taken on a version of Don titled King. Contrary to Akhtar's Don which will be an
exact remake, RGV's King will only be an inspiration. While some other projects are in the pipeline the above ones are the most exciting and concrete.

Good times are approaching!
