And just after Tauba Tauba...

And just after they sing "Tauba Tauba" the music fusion tells you how Salim Suleiman (SS) will revolutionize music mixing in the years to come. The tradition of advanced sound fusion/engineering owned by A.R. Rahman, ably maintained by the likes of Shankar Ehsaan Loy and Sandeep Chowta will be carried forward successfully by SS. In the 1.5 seconds just after the title words "Tauba Tauba" appear an innovative fusion of traditional Marathi Tamasha and Bhangra beats. "Tauba Tauba... (here) ...Ishq Main Kariyan" That is innovative music mixing. Hats off to SS.

Kaal has 2 basic songs: "Kaal Dhamaal" and "Tauba Tauba" which introduce the listener to a completely different style of music mixing and melody. Another just-about-ok number by Anand Raaj Anand, interesting remix versions of "Kaal Dhamaal", a peppy number by Kailash Kher (watch out for his forthcoming ghazals with Rahman in 'The Rising') and a raunchy remix of some previous Dharma production songs make up the music album for the song less thriller Kaal. Talented people like SS reaching good production houses like Dharma and The Factory (RGV) is bliss for cinema.

Frankly, Kaal did not strike me as great. Maybe I need to hear it a little more.

I did see a commercial of Bunty aur Babli today though. Music and the film, both looked very promising.
